Hi all,

Bought a new Holden Commodore Equipe back in 2005..

It is only now that we are starting to have problems.

Went out a few weeks ago to a shopping centre, parked the car (double locked it with the remote) and went shopping.

A couple of hours later went back to the car to go home and noticed that the tail lights and headlights were on.

Attempted to enter the car but could not use the remote to open the doors or the key to open the doors manually as the battery was flat, we managed after 10 mins to get the driver side door open with the remote but the car wouldn't start and the other doors would not open.

Took the car to the holden dealers and explained the problem, they said that they would have a look and let us know.

Anyway, a fews hours later went to pick the car up and the technician said that it was a corroded door earth switch which was removed and cleaned earth contact point and that was it. The car was fine until 2 weeks later when the same problem happened again.

The Holden dealers don't know what the problem is and cannot help. Has it got something to do with maybe a short circuit in the headlight switch as that is left on auto at all times.

I just want know if anyone has had problems like this before and may know exactly what the problem is.

It would great to sort this so that I am not stranded at the shops and waiting 2 hours for NRMA.

Thanks,

Garcidia.

The corroded door swtich is plausible. The BCM (Body Control Module) uses the switch to determine if the door is open/closed and if faulting could cause this problem....assuming you left the lights on in the first place.
If not, VY's had trouble witht the BCM's keeping the indicators on with a similar result.
I fail to see how the door did not open with the key....surely you could have opened at least the driver's door or does the double stage lock prevent this? Been a while for me.
