Have had starting problems for about 6 months when engine hot.
Engine cranks but will not fire or fires intermittently for up to half a minute before stopping. Then have to wait about 1 hour till it then starts OK.
Action taken by servicing garage -
Replace crank angle sensor - no change to problem.
Replace DFI module (yesterday) - situation deteriorated - Tried to start after 45 min driving. Usual spluttering engine till it stopped. When I try to start - Switch ignition ON, warning lights come on but fuel, temperature, and SPD lights go off after 1 sec. accompanied by a click (relay?).
When I turn key to start engine, nothing happens, no cranking, dead.
Security light is not operating but tried leaving car with ignition on for about 1 hour per manual, but made no difference.
At this stage I'm trying to figure out where to tow it to.
Any help/ideas appreciated. help.gif

Could be a power to the starter motor problem or possibly the starter motor its self.
When you turn the key to crank the relay should fire up. If you tried bridgin the relay manually between pins 30 and 87 the starter motor should crank. Do this when it faults and if it cranks fine this way and not with the key, your starter is ok.
There's a start anyway. I'm off to work now. cool.gif

Thanks for your reply.
I had the car towed to Holden dealer on Tuesday (13/8).
They tell me there is a fuse blowing, triggered by a short in the fuel pump which was replaced 2.5 years ago, cost $280. They are now replacing it, cost $480. Can't see too many options with a car that won't drive. Thanks anyway.
